Patriocentric Colors Shining Forth

There is a great big controversy over at Thatmom.

Some holier than thou patriarch had come and tried to put her in her place calling her "some woman" in a derogatory manner.

For some reason my 'thatmom' link isn't working for me so to get the latest scoop head on over to "Spiritual Sounding Board" to read about:

Discernment: You, Some Woman, and Phil Johnson

You can see the comment under thatmom's latest blog post if you can get the link to work for you.

Wordgazer's Words on the SGM Issue

Wordgazer is one of my favorite, most respected bloggers.

I've been aware of Kristen for many years and respected her insight before she started blogging.
Then she started blogging.

Link to T4G's Cowardly Statement

It needs to be on record and the info must be passed on.

Mark Dever, Ligon Duncan, and Al Mohler put this statement up on facebook in support of CJ Mahaney. Then the negative comments came rolling in. First they tried to delete comments. Then when they were overwhelmed with the flood they deleted the statement.

Fortunately a certain Bill Kinnon took a screen shot of it before it disappeared.

So, for those who haven't seen it yet, here is a link to the screen shot.

T4G Statement in defense of Mahaney

Be of good cheer. The outcry against T4G and TGC and their misguided support of CJ Mahaney is getting louder and louder.

(Edited to add that T4G has put their statement up on their own site but have disallowed comments... cowards... They won't be able to hide behind the lies they believe forever. The flood of truth will overtake them eventually.)

ThatMom Question's SGM/TGC Prophet, Priest, King Thing

This must be link Friday.

I should have put them all in one post. But I found them slowly, throughout the day so you are getting it in separate posts.

Thatmom is another Complementarian that is going to be added to my blog list right after I publish this post.
I've been aware of her for a long time. She has stood up against the patriocentric heresy from the early days. In fact, she's the one who coined the term 'patriocentric'.

She has a good one today:

How's That Prophet, Priest, King Thing Working Out for Ya?

You go, girl! Let them have it. They deserve it.

Abuse Victim's Anger Is Threatening???

Wow.

Just, Wow.

If I only suspected that the leaders of The Gospel Coalition were wimps, now I have no doubt. They take the angry expression of a young lady who was raped AT THIRTEEN YEARS OF AGE during CJ Mahaney's watch and call it a threat.

The Gospel Coalition are a band of whinny wimps. They have no idea what true manhood is. I'm going to stop typing now and just link because all I want to do is to continue to point out in creative and colorful ways what these 'men' of God are missing in the way of masculine body parts.

When Women Lead and Men Hide

It is not my favorite thing to talk about. I really don't have it out for men. Anyone who has been with me for very long knows that I appreciate strong men and weak men make me nervous. But there is a difference of opinion on what makes a strong man between me and the Neo Reform leaders.
The leaders of the Neo Reform movement call strong weak and weak strong. When faced with very severe sin in the camp, they run and hide, circle the wagons, and say, "Move along. There is nothing to see here." This is not strength. It is weakness and displays flawed character.

I guess I'm still grateful for the women of the Neo Reformed movement who are not hiding but rather rising up, being strong, and leading the way where their men have failed.

Sallie over at "A woman's Freedom in Christ" is also grateful for women like Wendy who are leading the way where their men are failing... badly...

Sallie's Post: When women Lead the Way

Thanks Sallie! (I've added you to my blog list. I should have done it long ago. Better late than never, though, right?)

Neo-Reform Leaders Need to Man-Up

At least that is what one commenter said on the Wartburg Watch.

In fact I liked Dana's comment so well, I think I'll post it here. Hope Dana doesn't mind.

"The NeoRefomed leaders need to “man up” and follow Wendy since she is the first example of manly leadership from that camp. She said what needed to be said in exactly the right way with the right tone. I often thank God for Wendy Alsup. May she prosper and flourish and be strengthened in every way."

Comment found here Link.

The Wendy that Dana is referring to is one of the few Complementarians in my blog list. She writes at Practical Theology for women. She's on my list because she actually cares about justice, mercy, and faithfulness (Matthew 23:23)
Here is her post that needs more than 29 comments (at the time of this post):

The Elephant in Our Own Backyard

I agree with Dana. Wendy is the first example of manly leadership that we see from this camp. The men ignoring the tears of the abused children of SGM should be ashamed of themselves.

If there is any hope for the Neo-Reformed camp, it lies with their women. Too bad the best known leaders among them are working so damn hard to marginalize them and put them down and searching out scripture for new ways to lord over them.

Cold-Hearted Religion

I was going to call it cold-hearted Christianity. But true Christianity, the kind that Jesus preached, wasn't anything like this. Religions of all stripes, devoid of love, can look like this, including Christianity, Paganism, and Atheism.
But in his tweet (that fortunately was later removed) John Piper displayed just how heartless he can be.
Thanks to Julie Anne for seeing it and displaying it.

Response to Josh Harris...

From a former SGM member who can see through the spin.

Evie, who comments over at The Wartburg Watch gave an eloquent and knowlegable response to Josh (I Kissed Dating Goodbye) Harris.

Evie's Response

Thanks Evie for putting it out there.

C. J. Mahaney Loves Being the Boss

He loves being in Charge and the perks of being at the top of his religious hierarchy food chain. He (allegedly) loves his paid for vacations in the Kiawah Islands (LINK!!!)*... Paid for by an abuser that Mahaney's authority protected so that the abuser could keep on abusing.

C. J. Mahaney Loves all the wonderful things that being the boss of hundreds of people brings to him.

C.J. Mahaney doesn't give a rip for the vulnerable little ones dangling at the bottom of his hierarchy food chain. He doesn't care that they were being consumed by ravenous wolves and trampled upon by mindless beasts, lusty bulls who gloried in their own strength and their own 'God-given', 'biblical',  'authority'.

C.J. and his hungry wolves and lusty wolves worship the idols of authority. They have sacrificed women and children on the altars of their gods. They have shorn and eaten the meat of the lambs they were supposed to feed and protect.

Sovereign Grace Ministries was built to worship the hierarchy structure that C. J. and his fellow wolves love to bow down to. May this SGM temple fall and may its captives be freed and its wounded healed by the One true God. The One that walked the Earth, Jesus Christ. The One that said:

Luke 22:25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’26 But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant. 27 For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

John Piper... The Gospel Coalition... Al Mohler...  Mark Driscoll... do you see where your devotion to the hierarchy god leads? It leads to abuse and makes the churches that serve this god look no different from the world that had always worshiped this dog-eat-dog god.

BTW... the hierarchy god has a name. Baal means "lord, owner, possessor".
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Then for your own sakes flee the temple Baal. He has no part in the Kingdom of God where Jesus is the bedrock and the Chief Cornerstone.

(*the link above inspired this tirade. the sgm  debacle just keeps getting uglier and uglier as more is exposed to the light. where or where are the real men among the yrr who will rise up and stop this. all i see are fake men, claiming to be men, thumping their chest and pointing at their own authority with pride as they seek new ways and more 'biblical' 'proof' to unrighteously rule over God's Kingdom.)

Churches... Safe Places?

Well some may be.

But some Churches involved in Sovereign Grace Ministries are definitely not. In fact, they (allegedly) have become hell holes where children are not only not protected, they are molested. It appears that those in charge have turned their backs on children and on God Himself. They have taken God's house, a house of prayer, and turned it into a den of thieves and predators.

I thank God for the hands of feet of Jesus who are going into these dens of thieves and turning over the tables of the money changers and pedophile protectors.

For those interested who are not yet aware and would like to find out about those taking action against the criminals in SGM here are a couple places to get you started.

House of Horrors (at The Wartburg Watch)

and

Amended complaint against SGM (at Spiritual Sounding Board)

How can Piper and Mohler support Mahaney? At best they are ostriches with their heads in the sand, a very vulnerable position. What are they at the worst? I'll leave that for others to discuss.

A Couple New Blogs on Blog List

These are new and different from some of my others.
Both these bloggers might refer to themselves as Complementarian. But I look upon them as a brother and a sister who I agree with on most things but have minor disagreement on a couple things. And I believe that I have told them both that their version of Complementarianism is not the evil, destructive form that I have witnessed in others. So for the sake of balancing out all the egal blogs I have, I thought I put these two on for the sake of fairness and balance.

Remembering Journey

I had an Internet friend. I knew her real name, but then she had to divorce her husband and pull back from being an Internet figure and began using a Pseudonym: Journey. I've lost track of her but always think good thoughts when I remember her.

Another Internet friend had used part of her testimony in a blog post. Retha's most recent post quote Journey here: When Soft Complementarianism is too Hard.

Her full testimony is found here under her Internet name Journey.

Dear Happy Full Quiver-er

Those of my readers who are not familiar with this part of her testimony, please take time to read it. It is very eye opening.

Driscoll Fears and Smacks Down Bereans

Found this blog post linked in a Wartburg Watch comment thread.
It is notable enough that I feel the need to pass it on.

Mark Driscoll Smacks Down Rebellious Evangelicals.

Of course Driscoll doesn't want any of us to search out what the Bible really says. Then he can no longer use it as a sock puppet that always agrees with him.

Christian Vulcanism

It has come up again. This time over at Spiritual Sounding Board. This movement among men to deny the emotional side of the human race and to turn it into something rigid and overly structured. We've seen it among men who drive us bonkers like Driscoll and Piper.
Unfortunately it is also cropping up among fellows who, except for saying a few stupid things, they are rather decent and caring.

Evangelical Church is Weak and Womanly

Please, Phil Johnson. Please come up with other ways to address issues that you have with the church. There is no need to scapegoat women over it.

Driscoll is a Nag

And he spends far too much time nagging women about nagging.
He needs to back off and remove the plank from his own eye. Then he might actually be able to see how to help couples with their marriages rather than beat women over the head with the Bible and falsely call it teaching.

Mark Driscoll is a Nagging Clanging Cymbal

Of course, Driscoll isn't the only nag. He's just one of the loudest and most obnoxious. The Church is full of men, preachers and laity, who think that it's their business to nag the life out of women in the Name of Jesus because, in their minds, that's what the gospel is all about. It all about controlling and shaming women.
