Shiny Happy People Aftercare Resources

 Yes, I watched it.

No, it was not triggering to me. I managed to avoid most of the crap that came from Gothard and the IBLP/ATI propaganda. I put them in the category of Doug Wilson, so far over the cuckoo's edge, I just couldn't get bogged down in their B.S.

Also, I never watched the Duggars on TV. Couldn't stand the idea of it. Plus, I was also more laser focused on Driscoll*, Piper, TGC, and others like that at the time who were also troubling the Church with their aberrant doctrine and teaching points.

But, I know that there are many, many people who have been or are going to be severely triggered by Amazon's number one tv show. So for them, I'll link a resource page:

Aftercare resources

*For those who come here for Driscoll stuff, I've been meaning to get to this. I even started a post about it but could never get back to finish it. So I'm going to just link these two things here. Do with them as you like.

Wenatchee the Hatchet has an interesting look at a recent Tweet from Driscoll comparing menopause to demonic possession.

Which isn't strange since Driscoll links women pretty close to Satan. He has many examples like what Wenatchee lists in his post linked above.

Also, here is a quote from another source where Driscoll calls women who don't fit into his doctrine on womanhood Satan. It is under the subheading Family Division.

You could call these last two links off-topic, if you like. But I don't think so. It all stems from the same issue of celebrity preachers building up kingdoms for themselves and using God's name in vain to do so. These cult leaders are very controlling, ,manipulative, and often hate women.

Edited to add Recovering Grace's page on the topic of Shiny Happy People.

Seen "Shiny Happy People"?

Hopefully more people will find healing.

Final Word on Josh Butler's Beautiful Union Debacle

Well, actually, there will never be a final word because Josh Butler is doubling down and determined to FORCE people to accept and understand his idiocracy.

But, I have really enjoyed the Substack series by Laura Robinson on the matter. Here is the latest from her series, words after her brilliant conclusion:

What If It's Just Bad? Beautiful Union Part Forever, It Will Never Stop

This is something I will probably refer back to because Reformer men don't understand what they have done to themselves and the church by sidelining women, insulting them, and never being willing to hear their voices if their voices are not fawning over how brilliant Reformer men are.

A Couple More Important Thoughts on TGC Doctrine Problem

I really like this one from someone I've never read before or even heard of, Beth Felker Jones:

Protestant bodies, Protestant bedrooms

This next one is from Scot McKnight. I have heard of him before, but not read much from him:

Social Media Speaks

Then of course there is some coverage by Julie Roys reporting team:

TGC Issues an Apology

Finally, The Wartburg Watch had a bit on it:

The Controversy Over Josh Butler

I may add more to this link page. Or not. We'll see.

TGC Echo Chamber

Unless you live under a rock, you most likely have heard about the ridiculous goings on at The Gospel Coalition, the Keller Centre, and Multnomah Publishing.

If, indeed, someone comes here not knowing, I will link three places to go for more information

Bare Marriage had a good post with lots of links to other opinions: My V@gina Is Not My "Most Holy Place": A Response to the Gospel Coalition.

Under Much Grace comes in with an overview of the history that has led up to this crazy outcome: The Spermeneutics of Spread Your Legs Theology

And I'll add Biblical Personhood's for good measure simple because I miss her voice in the blogsphere as she doesn't publish as much as she used.to and she had such good insight. (Hi, Retha, I see you!): The Gospel Coalition seemingly Endorses Phallic Worship -- And Inadvertently Makes the Case for Women Elders.

Poor Joshua Butler. He really stepped into it, didn't he? And TGC?

This is what happens when a bunch of men refuse to acknowledge the wisdom and concerns of women for years on end. This is what happens when they keep talking to each other about things they don't fully understand. They get weirder and weirder with no wise feminine input or push back. They get emboldened in their error. And out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Concerning the Proverbs Woman:

Proverbs 31:26 She opens her mouth in wisdom,

And the [q]teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

Too bad TGC and other Complementarianas fight so hard to shut women up and beat them down with twisted Bible verses. Too bad they judged women to be foolish and unwise. By doing this, they have shot themselves in the foot. They had told everyone that women are lesser parts of the Body of Christ. As a result women were ignored, used, abused and dismissed. And this has blown up in their faces.

Two Links for Today

First, Keith Gregoire defending his wife, Sheila, again. Because Sheila doesn't hold up male supremacy as God's divine order 'clearly' laid out in the Bible, she is being accused of not being 'biblical'.

Being Biblical Means Loving the Whole Bible, Not Just Pet Verses.

You go, Keith. I always love it when you contribute to Sheila's blog. This time you were able to logically expose the hypocrisy of those accusing Sheila.

And this from Baptist Global New:

Why Women Talking has women talking and complementarian men fuming

Apparently, male headship is way more important than women talking and working together to deliver themselves from abuse and injustice. At least one dude from The Gospel Coalition thought this so strongly he felt the need to write about it.

Edited 2/18/23 to add this link:

An Ex-Bible Counselor Responds to Christianity Today

It's another good Read.

Edited 2/22/23 to add this one.

Just wanted to be able to find this one later.

Jock Strap Religion, Part 2

I have a lot to say but not much time to say it.

I love the title of my friend, Hannah's, blog post concerning the SGM debacle and T4G and TGC's response to it. The title is "Together for Mahaney at the Southern Baptist Convention". And she goes into analysis of how these good ol' boys have each other's backs (and privates!).

I've just recently linked to two other blogs that also demonstrate what I call Jock Strap Religion (JSR). The one linked on Friday illustrates how the Pearls hold women responsible for everything, including the sins of men. The other one linked on Tuesday shows how oldest daughters are the ones exposed to abuse and mistreatment in order to protect the abusive system of patriarchy (the ultimate JSR).

Needless to say, seeing all this protection of 'holy' and 'superior' manhood and their sins at the expense of women and children, making women and children vulnerable and the ones taking the blows and bearing the abuse (rather than the men who should bear the consequences of their own sins) has just increased my distaste of man-made JSR. This is the kingdom that Mahaney, T4G, TGC, the Pearls, CBMW, and many others are building. A Jock Strap Kingdom where men, manhood, and manlike sins are protected and covered and where women and children are thrown under the bus to protect this kingdom and the 'privates' of men.

Jesus did the opposite of this. He held men accountable for their own sins and released women from bearing that burden:

Matthew 5:27 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

He also called all into account for hurting His little, defenseless lambs.

Matthew 18:but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Jesus didn't come to earth to promote a JSR or build a Jock Strap Kingdom. This is the work of men who want to cover their own hinneys and fronties while walking all over the vulnerable. Jesus is the champion of the vulnerable. He does not wink at the sins of men. Just because Jesus walked the earth as a man doesn't mean He 'understands' the sins of men, makes allowances for those sins, and/or looks the other way.

John 8:3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”]

For those who don't know. The above passage was not about Jesus 'going soft' on sin. It was Jesus confronting the unjust culture that stoned women for adultery while letting the men go free. Cause really, if she was caught in the very act... where was the guy? Oh, that's right, the other men covered and hid that man and his sin from Jesus. They were practicing JSR where they protect men and condemn women. JSR is a Pharisee concoction. It has no part in the Kingdom of God that Jesus was setting up.

This is the reason why I loved the title to Hannah's post. It gets to the heart of the matter. Together for the Gospel and The Gospel Coalition, and whoever else that is coming to Mahaney's defense... They are NOT together for the Gospel. At least NOT the one that Jesus preached. They are together to protect men and their sins. They are together to protect Mahaney, the pastors, and all the pedophiles hiding in SGM. They are together against the women and children who have been trampled on by these men, including Mahaney. They are together for their beloved and worshiped Jock Strap Religion.

In case you missed part 1 of the Jock Strap Religion, unofficial series.

Link to T4G's Cowardly Statement

It needs to be on record and the info must be passed on.

Mark Dever, Ligon Duncan, and Al Mohler put this statement up on facebook in support of CJ Mahaney. Then the negative comments came rolling in. First they tried to delete comments. Then when they were overwhelmed with the flood they deleted the statement.

Fortunately a certain Bill Kinnon took a screen shot of it before it disappeared.

So, for those who haven't seen it yet, here is a link to the screen shot.

T4G Statement in defense of Mahaney

Be of good cheer. The outcry against T4G and TGC and their misguided support of CJ Mahaney is getting louder and louder.

(Edited to add that T4G has put their statement up on their own site but have disallowed comments... cowards... They won't be able to hide behind the lies they believe forever. The flood of truth will overtake them eventually.)

ThatMom Question's SGM/TGC Prophet, Priest, King Thing

This must be link Friday.

I should have put them all in one post. But I found them slowly, throughout the day so you are getting it in separate posts.

Thatmom is another Complementarian that is going to be added to my blog list right after I publish this post.
I've been aware of her for a long time. She has stood up against the patriocentric heresy from the early days. In fact, she's the one who coined the term 'patriocentric'.

She has a good one today:

How's That Prophet, Priest, King Thing Working Out for Ya?

You go, girl! Let them have it. They deserve it.

Abuse Victim's Anger Is Threatening???

Wow.

Just, Wow.

If I only suspected that the leaders of The Gospel Coalition were wimps, now I have no doubt. They take the angry expression of a young lady who was raped AT THIRTEEN YEARS OF AGE during CJ Mahaney's watch and call it a threat.

The Gospel Coalition are a band of whinny wimps. They have no idea what true manhood is. I'm going to stop typing now and just link because all I want to do is to continue to point out in creative and colorful ways what these 'men' of God are missing in the way of masculine body parts.

The Gospel Coalition Shows Disregard for the Pain of Alleged Rape Victim

When Women Lead and Men Hide

It is not my favorite thing to talk about. I really don't have it out for men. Anyone who has been with me for very long knows that I appreciate strong men and weak men make me nervous. But there is a difference of opinion on what makes a strong man between me and the Neo Reform leaders.
The leaders of the Neo Reform movement call strong weak and weak strong. When faced with very severe sin in the camp, they run and hide, circle the wagons, and say, "Move along. There is nothing to see here." This is not strength. It is weakness and displays flawed character.

I guess I'm still grateful for the women of the Neo Reformed movement who are not hiding but rather rising up, being strong, and leading the way where their men have failed.

Sallie over at "A woman's Freedom in Christ" is also grateful for women like Wendy who are leading the way where their men are failing... badly...

Sallie's Post: When women Lead the Way

Thanks Sallie! (I've added you to my blog list. I should have done it long ago. Better late than never, though, right?)

C. J. Mahaney Loves Being the Boss

He loves being in Charge and the perks of being at the top of his religious hierarchy food chain. He (allegedly) loves his paid for vacations in the Kiawah Islands (LINK!!!)*... Paid for by an abuser that Mahaney's authority protected so that the abuser could keep on abusing.

C. J. Mahaney Loves all the wonderful things that being the boss of hundreds of people brings to him.

C.J. Mahaney doesn't give a rip for the vulnerable little ones dangling at the bottom of his hierarchy food chain. He doesn't care that they were being consumed by ravenous wolves and trampled upon by mindless beasts, lusty bulls who gloried in their own strength and their own 'God-given', 'biblical',  'authority'.

C.J. and his hungry wolves and lusty wolves worship the idols of authority. They have sacrificed women and children on the altars of their gods. They have shorn and eaten the meat of the lambs they were supposed to feed and protect.

Sovereign Grace Ministries was built to worship the hierarchy structure that C. J. and his fellow wolves love to bow down to. May this SGM temple fall and may its captives be freed and its wounded healed by the One true God. The One that walked the Earth, Jesus Christ. The One that said:

Luke 22:25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’26 But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant. 27 For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

John Piper... The Gospel Coalition... Al Mohler...  Mark Driscoll... do you see where your devotion to the hierarchy god leads? It leads to abuse and makes the churches that serve this god look no different from the world that had always worshiped this dog-eat-dog god.

BTW... the hierarchy god has a name. Baal means "lord, owner, possessor".
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Then for your own sakes flee the temple Baal. He has no part in the Kingdom of God where Jesus is the bedrock and the Chief Cornerstone.

(*the link above inspired this tirade. the sgm  debacle just keeps getting uglier and uglier as more is exposed to the light. where or where are the real men among the yrr who will rise up and stop this. all i see are fake men, claiming to be men, thumping their chest and pointing at their own authority with pride as they seek new ways and more 'biblical' 'proof' to unrighteously rule over God's Kingdom.)

Gospel Coalition, STOP YOUR BULLYING!!!

RIGHT NOW!
I MEAN IT!
(to my regular readers. sorry for all this shouting. but this one really did tick me off.)

Look, dudes (at the gospel coalition). I realize that you believe that you represent the pinnacle of all that is true and right having to do with American Christianity and Christianity in general. But I'm afraid the elevated position that you see yourselves in has deluded you and made you stupid and boorish, dumb beasts, bulls in China shops that believe they are justified in their tramping, shaming, silencing, and dismissing woman who are addressing the very real concerns and injustices that they have experienced at the hands of abusive 'Christian' systems.

You guys just better back off of these wounded women. Not because I have any power to make you hurt for it. I have none. But I'm kind of concerned about what the One who IS in the position to take you to task for your bullying. What will He do to you if you don't back off from perpetuating spiritual abuse in His name?

Quote of the Day

This comes from The Wartburg Watch from an article that was actually posted yesterday.

"Deb and I believe, with our whole hearts, that the battle facing the Christian faith today is not the American deficit, not creationism, not making sure women stay silent in the church but recognizing a specific, serious sin in our midst. This sin is the abuse of children and women in the church, and, in particular, child sexual abuse."  --Dee

Shaking up the Patriarchs

The patriarchal empire builders have a serious threat on their hands.
Her name is Rachel Held Evans, if you are missing the hoopla. It's all over the Internet. Just Google her name and "A Year of Biblical Womanhood" and you'll get an idea.

Anyway, you can find info all over about it.
But I'd like to direct your attention to a comment may by Val over at TWW. I believe she nails it on the head why Piper, Driscoll, and The Gospel Coalition don't like her and why some even question her salvation etc.

Val's Comment on The Wartburg Watch

Read it and see if it doesn't make sense to you.
